A week with Big Bass, the fishing arcade I couldn't stop opening

I did not expect Big Bass to stick. Fishing games on mobile usually lean on flashy menus and forget the actual fishing, but this one keeps its eyes on the water. You flick to cast, wait for the bite, and tap to hook — three inputs, and somehow that's enough to build a real rhythm around.

The trick is the fight. Once a fish is on the line it pulls, and you have to hold and let go in response instead of just spamming the reel. Get greedy and the line snaps. After a couple of days I could read the tension almost by feel, and landing a big one at the last second is a genuinely good moment.

Each new lake changes what's under the surface. The starter pond is forgiving, but the deeper spots hide the catches that make the counter tick up, and they fight harder. That gentle progression kept me opening it on the train without ever feeling pushed.

My one tip: don't rush the reel. Big Bass rewards patience far more than speed, and the early frustration usually comes from yanking too hard. Slow down, watch the line, and the whole thing clicks.

It's not a deep game and it doesn't pretend to be. It's a clean, satisfying arcade loop that respects your time, and that's exactly why it earned a spot on my home screen.
